In Windows 11, you can set the taskbar to automatically hide when it’s not in use to maximize the screen space available to you. Here’s how you can do it:
- Right-click on the taskbar and select “Taskbar settings” from the context menu.

2. In the Taskbar settings window, scroll down to the “Taskbar behaviors” section.

3. Toggle on the switch for “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode” and/or “Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode” depending on your preference.

4. Once the switch is turned on, the taskbar will automatically hide when it’s not in use, and reappear when you move your mouse to the bottom of the screen.
Note: If you prefer to have the taskbar always visible, you can simply turn off the “Automatically hide the taskbar” switch in the Taskbar settings.
That’s it! You have successfully set the taskbar to automatically hide when it’s not in use in Windows 11.
