TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker is a small open-source program available on Windows which, as its name suggests, allows you to download the latest NVIDIA drivers without going through the GeForce Experience application .

Until now, if you wanted to update your NVIDIA graphics card drivers , you had two options. The first is to go to the official NVIDIA website and then manually download the latest drivers from the dedicated page . However, this solution is not the simplest because it requires you to be constantly informed of each update release. Imagine the mess…

The second is to use the GeForce Experience software, and go to the “Drivers” menu before clicking on “Check for updates”. If more recent drivers are available, the software then offers to download them before installing them automatically. In short, using the GeForce Experience application to update your GPU drivers is the best solution, well almost…

You should know that when you install the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software, several other services are also installed without your knowledge. The problem is that no one knows what these executables are doing in the background when the application isn’t even being used. We only know that NVIDIA recently added a telemetry tool to its drivers, which allows it to collect information about its users, but without further details. In addition, it is mandatory to create a user account to open the application.

I therefore propose today a third solution which in my opinion is more secure, lighter and very easy to use. This solution is called  TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker and comes down to a simple little open-source program.

Similar to the GeForce Experience application, the TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker software allows you to search, download and install the latest NVIDIA drivers for your graphics card. The only difference is that TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker supports customizing driver installation . In other words, the program is able to  remove telemetry as well as all other “unnecessary” services (no Physics, HD Audio, GeForce Experience, 3D drivers, etc.). Only basic graphics drivers will be installed.

Come on, without further ado, let’s find out together how TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker works.

Prerequisites

  • Windows 10, 8.x or 7
  • .NET framework 4.5
  • HtmlAgilityPack.dll in same folder as the executable (automatic download from v1.8.0 and up)
  • Stable internet connection
  • (optional) WinRAR (only if using minimal installer method)

1. Start by downloading TinyNvidiaUpdateChecker from the developer’s GitHub page and then running it.

2.  A Command Prompt window will then open before displaying several dialog boxes. These are just a few questions that allow for the initial setup. From memory, you are asked if you want the program to also search for drivers available in beta version, the name of your graphics card, and whether you want to customize the drivers or not.

3.  Once configured, the program will search for the latest drivers available and offer you the download if necessary.
