Export Google Authenticator codes to migrate to another 2FA manager

Two-factor authentication or 2FA is really a security measure that everyone should have in place on their accounts to avoid the worst in the event of password leaks.

This consists of obtaining a unique number on your smartphone that changes every 30 seconds. There are many 2FA applications, but among the best known, there is of course Authy from Twilio and Google Authenticator.

Authy has a backup module but Google Authenticator does not. Instead, there is an export possibility that you have to think about doing and which displays a single QR Code containing all of your accounts. And you will of course have to scan it again with Google Authenticator to recover everything at once.

But what to do to get the unique otpauth links to each of the imported sites to be able to import them into another 2FA client?

Well, there is a script called Gauth-Export which allows from the Google Authenticator export QR Code or its otpauth-migration link, to retrieve all the otpauth URIs of each of your sites. It’s super handy to do a smooth migration to another dual factor manager like Authy, Lastpass Authenticator or others.

You can recover this script directly on Github or use this static page.
