In this tutorial, we are going to see how to change drive letter and name in Windows 11

If you want to change the drive letter and name on your Windows 11 PC, there are a few things you should know before you proceed.

The internal and external hard drives in Windows 11 are automatically assigned a name with any alphabet from A to Z. However, A and B are already assigned to the floppy disk drives. However, because modern computers do not have a diskette storage slot, you can assign A or B as the name for the storage devices attached to your machine.

The letter C, on the other hand, is the default drive letter for the primary drive on the system on which your operating system is installed. However, if your system has multiple drives, the letter identifies the second hard drive or CD / DVD drive if there is no second drive.

The letters E, F, and G are each assigned to all other drives that are assigned to the first drive. However, you can change the drive letter or the name of the drive for convenience. The good thing is that Windows 11 introduced some new features that can be challenging for some. Those new to the new operating system may have difficulty coping with the changes in the settings, and changing or renaming the drive letter is one such setting.

However, this post will help you understand how to change the drive letter and name in Windows 11 which sits deep in the new settings. There are two different ways to change the drive letter and name.
