Redact is an application available on macOS, Windows and Linux that will allow you to clean up the online services you use. Indeed, this tool allows you to delete all the old data from your favorite services: Discord, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram…etc.
You may wonder why do this? Well personally, I practice self-cleaning my Twitter account because I see it as a platform for the ephemeral and instantaneous. I recommend everyone to do it because this platform is full of morons who like to take messages dated +10 years out of context to create controversy.
On the other hand, I don’t clean my Instagram because I like to dive back into it from time to time.
There are more than 40 supported services and for each of them, you can configure everything you want to disappear, according to certain dates, certain keywords or certain types of content (likes, comments, photos , private messages, etc.)
All of your choices are also programmable so that a deletion is triggered by Redact every 3 months, every 6 months, every year…and so on.
Where the tool is super well thought out is that it offers a “preview” mode that will allow you to see what content will be deleted. This ensures that you made the right choices during the initial setup.
For personal use, Redact is free. On the other hand, in a professional setting, it will be necessary to pay.
