Life isn’t always fun, let’s admit it. And I know that many of us feel a little lonely behind our screens. Most people are superficial, which is normal since everyone distrusts everyone else, and nobody has time to delve deeper into conversations. It’s sad. And unfortunately, social networks don’t help with this situation.

To remedy this, Slowly was created. This application brings back the concept of “pen pals” by connecting people from all over the world based on their interests and other criteria. No need to write on paper and go to the nearest mailbox.

Everything happens on mobile, and once your profile is created, you can start writing a letter that you will address to someone you have chosen from their profile. This way, you can practice a language, discuss a passion, or exchange viewpoints on life with people from all over the world.

These virtual letters take time to arrive, which creates a certain anticipation. This waiting time depends on the distance that separates you geographically from your correspondent, like in the old days.

So everyone can take the time to write long missives and why not include some photos. And it’s completely anonymous… You only need a pseudonym to start finding friends with whom to exchange.

The testimonials on the site are really nice… It has helped some people out of depression, others have found love or a friend, and others have started projects with their correspondent. It’s really fun to read.

I know that this kind of thing won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I also know that some of you are constantly searching for authenticity in your exchanges with other people. Slowly allows you to experience this without pressure, without putting anything on the line.

Just a discussion that can last a few days or turn into a lifelong friendship. I know it’s beautiful.

It’s available on iOS and Android here.
