The first thing to do is to search for the extension in the Google search engine.
Then you enter the link of the same and you click on Add to Chrome.
You will see a pop-up window where you need to click on Add Extension
It’s done, it’s already installed.
It is recommended to close Chrome and reopen it to be 100% functional Note: You can also click on the link of each extension you find in this article and install them more easily.
List of the best SEO extensions
The list is not capricious: I have chosen + 18 favorite tools, with which I myself work every day and which I have personally verified that they work best. This is why I dare to recommend them with such emphasis.
Let’s start! 🔥
1. Detailed SEO extension
Detailed SEO extension is Google Chrome’s SEO extension that allows to study the page of a webpage.
Similar to the other SEO plugins I’m going to tell you about below, Detailed SEO is great for knowing the headers of each URL, the word count, the links there are, the schema and if the images have ALT or nope.
In addition to this, you will be able to know the canonical, the metarobots, among other characteristics.
At the same time, it is very visual and pleasing to the eye, added to the fact that it processes data quite quickly.
Oh, and besides, it was created by a real SEO like Glen Allsopp.
It also allows you to know, by activating the option in the settings, the nofollow links of each page analyzed.
2. Keywords everywhere
This SEO extension can be easily installed on Chrome and Firefox.
The best part of Keywords Everywhere is that it lets us know the monthly search volume, cost per click, and keyword competition data on various websites.
Monthly search volume is the estimated average of the total number of searches users have made for a particular keyword, per month over the past 12 months.
Cost per click (commonly referred to as CPC) shows how much advertisers pay each time a user clicks on a specific keyword in Google AdWords.
The worst part of the expansion? It stopped being free and now you have to pay.
3. Keyword Surfer
Keyword Surfer researches keywords and performs SERP (Search Engine Response Pages) analysis.
In a nutshell, here’s what you can get: domain-level traffic estimates in search results, keyword volumes (both local and global), keyword suggestions, and domain-level backlink counts .
This extension provides one of the fastest ways to reveal search data and perform keyword research.
Have you ever wondered how many times users search for a specific keyword in Google search engines?
Using this extension, you will be able to find the (estimated) search volume for each of these queries. This way, you won’t waste time and money generating content for keywords that have little interest.
4. Search Nightwatch Simulator
Search Simulator , as the name suggests, allows you to simulate search engine queries from any location on Google. So you can easily check and track both your website and the ranking of your competitors.
It is one of the most useful SEO plugins and the one I like the most.
If you are an SEO consultant or work in niches in different countries and languages, this extension for Chrome is essential.
This SEO Nightwatch extension simplifies the work of any SEO professional who wants to perform rank tracking to check website SERP positions.
5. Ahrefs Toolbar
With this tool, you can instantly get SEO metrics from any web page. Ahrefs toolbar is a great time saver for your work.
Here are some of the page and domain metrics you will have immediate access to using this SEO plugin:
- Number of keywords positioned
- Organic Search Traffic Estimation
- Number of referring domains
- number of links
- UR (Ahrefs URL Ranking)
- AR (Ahrefs rank)
- DR (Ahrefs Domain Rating)
6. Moz Toolbar
One of the most used SEO extensions for Chrome.
This free SEO toolbar also provides instant metrics when you visit any web page or SERP.
The Moz Toolbar is one of the most prominent SEO extensions, with over 500,000 installs worldwide.
Then, I will detail what are its main advantages:
- Custom searches based on search engine, country, region or city.
- Access to link metrics on web pages while viewing any SERP.
- Comparison of these measures.
- Bookmarks on the webpage to find and highlight keywords and differentiate links by type: followed, unfollowed, external or internal.
- Page overlay.
- Exposing page elements, general attributes, markup, link metrics, and HTTP status.
- Authority Scores: Quickly assess ranking likelihood with Page Authority and Domain Authority.
- Export detailed SERP analysis data to a CSV file.
7. Extension SEO Pro
SEO Pro Extension is not just another SEO extension for Chrome.
Along with showing you information about headers, language, images, bots, links, and schema, it also shows you the response code and major web vitals at a glance.
It is one of the most complete and quite fast free extensions.
You must try it.
8. Similar Web
Similar Web ‘s innovative solutions enable businesses to make better decisions about:
- Compare yourself to competitors in your industry.
- Discover the analysis and digital strategy of your competition.
- Identify new opportunities such as partners, potential customers or affiliates.
- Identify emerging trends and new players in the field.
- Understand consumer intent.
gInfinity lets you create infinite scrolling Google search results. Simply scroll to the bottom of the webpage and the next page of results will be added automatically.
As can be seen in the image, each time you scroll it marks the page number you have moved to.
Scraper is the perfect SEO extension for getting data from web pages and spreadsheets. In this way, online research is facilitated to quickly obtain data in spreadsheet form.
This is a tool designed to be easy to use for intermediate to advanced users who are comfortable with XPath.
You can get invaluable insights, and the better you know JQuery or XPath, the more likely you are to drop good data.
11. SEO QUAKE
SEO Quake is a free SEO extension that provides a wide variety of fundamental metrics and tools for analyzing your web page. Some of them are listed below:
- Quickly check the most relevant SEO metrics.
- It provides full SERP analysis and lets you export the results in CSV format.
- Identifies search query parameters.
- Audit websites for SEO.
- Check the compatibility of a web page on mobile devices.
- Allows auditing with default and custom settings.
- Generates detailed reports on the external and internal links of a web page.
- Indicates the density of a keyword and prepares a list of words to detect.
- Allows you to compare URLs and domains.
- Check what your statistics are on Facebook.
In the image above, you can see the SEO Quake bar which displays some very interesting data without having to access each tool.
It also takes you to a tab with interesting web page data at the page and link level.
12. Free Backlink Checker by LRT
Despite its name, this tool has nothing to do with incoming links (backlink). On the contrary, this extension is dedicated to the analysis of outgoing links on a web page.
Like many other link checkers, Free Backlink Checker highlights all broken links in red and working links in green.
It also lets you export all the links on a page, along with the anchor text, HTTP status, and “rel” attribute to a CSV or XLSX file.
Unlike many other broken link checkers, this tool lets you delay the time between link requests for slower page analysis. This avoids many false positives caused by server protection.
13. SEO Stack
SEOStack pulls autocomplete suggestions from Google, Youtube, Bing, Yahoo, Amazon, and eBay to generate thousands of keyword ideas from an initial keyword.
In turn, all the data obtained can be easily exported to a file in CSV format.
Seerobots is an SEO tool for metabot checkups. That is, from index, noindex, follow and nofollow.
If the box is green, it is index and follow, if it is red, it is noindex and nofollow, if both colors are, the results are combined: index and nofollow or noindex and follow.
There are other extensions that do the same thing and work like a charm: Robots Exclusion Checker is one of them.
15. Beacon Wizard
Tag Assistant helps you troubleshoot installation issues of various Google tags including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, etc.
This tool is responsible for verifying that you have correctly installed the Google tags on your web page.
Simply navigate to any page and the extension will tell you what tags are present, report any bugs it finds, and suggest improvements.
Additionally, Tag Assistant allows you to record a typical user flow to and through your website. This way, you can instantly validate, diagnose, and fix issues with your Google Analytics implementation.
This SEO extension also aims to check for broken links. Also, it provides SERP preview and Google location simulator in one tool.
However, SEO Minion has an exclusive differential that sets it apart from the rest, which is that it allows you to compare Google SERPs for two different countries.
One of my favorites! And it’s not that it’s a direct SEO extension…
Hunter ‘s Chrome extension immediately identifies the email addresses behind the websites you browse. Do you realize how precious that is?
Whenever you visit a website, just click the Hunter icon in Chrome to instantly get a list of email addresses right in your browser.
Additionally, the tool will provide the sources where the email was found along with its date of discovery.
18. Google Lighthouse
Google Lighthouse performs tests on your website and, based on these, offers suggestions for improvements related to performance, accessibility, best practices for developers and, of course, SEO.
It’s very easy to use: you just provide the URL you want to audit and the extension performs tests on that web page and then gives you a report on its performance.
As you can imagine, evidence that the website has not improved indicates room for improvement.
Do I blindly trust this website? Not at all, I prefer to use GTMetrix for example, to better understand the resources of each web, however it is still another valid option to solve specific problems.
Bonus 1: Copy all URLs
A fairly simple extension but that does not prevent it from being very effective and necessary.
When working in an Excel or SEO tool, you can copy multiple URLs and open them in bulk mode in Google Chrome.
You just need to click on the umbrella icon of Copy all URLs and give “paste”.
All the URLs you pasted will open automatically.
Be careful not to overdo it. Your computer may not support opening more than 50 URLs at once.
Bonus 2 : Link Grabber
A simple but exceptional extension.
Link Grabber allows you to extract all links from a URL.
For example, you can get all URLs from a sitemap.
You can even copy them to the clipboard via a button.
In this article, I showed you the best SEO extensions for Chrome and why to use them.
There are some must-have extensions that will come in handy throughout your SEO life.
Those of On-page SEO such as SEO Minion, Detailed SEO, SEO Quake or SEO Pro, are more than necessary to know details such as headers, robots and image ALTs.
However, it is not mandatory to have them all, with 1 or 2 you are already more than covered.
There are even other well-known ones such as 1-Click SEO META which many SEOs also use.
Another great extension is the Nightwatch Search Simulator extension which allows you to view SERPs from anywhere in the world, without Google taking any type of reference from your browsing history.
Anyway, there are many extensions and other interesting ones that were not included in the blog post.
And you, what other SEO extension for Chrome or Firefox would you add to the list? 🤔
